As Electric Vehicles (EVs) make their way into the global marketplace, the demand for efficiency and reliability is more imperative than ever. The mobile electric revolution does not tolerate errors, especially in determining aspects such as electrical wiring and connections, both of which are responsible for the efficient transmission of energy throughout the electric car system.

On the one hand, electrical wiring fulfills the primary function of conducting energy from the source, such as the battery, to the different electrical components, including the motor; Therefore, the following should be taken into account:

Electrical connections and wiring: Ensuring efficient energy transmission

  1. Cross section and material: The quality of the wiring is evaluated in terms of its cross-section and the material used, so strength is checked to ensure durability and prevent failure.

  2. Proper insulation: Each individual conductor must be insulated to prevent short circuit so that it resists extreme conditions and protects against physical damage.

  3. Adequate flexibility: Wiring must be flexible for installation in the vehicle, enough to accommodate the shapes and dimensions of the vehicle without compromising the integrity of the driver.

On the other hand, connections such as plugs and connectors are absolutely required to continue with the process of energy transmission and freedom of resistance so that they can generate heat; To achieve this, the following must be considered:

  • In some cases, connections can be soldered. So, the quality of the welds should be checked to avoid possible failures due to weak joints.

  • Due to the presence of elements such as water and dust, connections must be watertight to prevent short circuits. Airtightness is checked to ensure performance in various weather conditions.

  • The electrical resistance in the connections is closely monitored. High resistors can generate heat, affecting system efficiency and potentially causing damage.

  • In addition, clear identification and accessible connections facilitate maintenance and repair operations.

Finally, it is crucial to perform a thorough visual inspection to ensure that the system integration meets the desired standards. Since EVs rely on a variety of electronic systems, even a small glitch or oversight could affect their operation.

What about component miniaturization?

The desire to make vehicles lighter and more efficient has led to a trend towards the miniaturization of components. While thinner wiring can reduce weight, it can also complicate inspection. This is where advanced inspection technology and tools come into play by detecting faults with unprecedented accuracy.

At PTI QCS, we are dedicated to maintaining and improving component quality with excellence. We use 4.0 technology in our inspection, rework, and release support processes. From start to finish, we take care of the inspections of your components and the assembly of vehicles.

We drive innovation in component inspection by providing state-of-the-art solutions and tools to ensure quality at every step. Because at the end of the day, every detail counts.
