The rearview mirror has evolved from a simple reflection to a piece of technology. Today, many mirrors incorporate sensors, cameras, anti-glare systems, and even direction indicators.

In the crucial task of ensuring the quality of rearview mirrors, SQAs and SQEs face specific challenges that can lead to common mistakes. Avoiding these obstacles is key to maintaining high standards:

Know the most frequent trips during the inspection of rearview mirrors

  1. Underestimating complexity:

Not fully understanding the embedded technology, such as cameras and sensors, can lead to a superficial inspection. Underestimating technical complexity is a common mistake that could result in insufficient fault detection.

  2. Neglecting optical quality:

Did you know that the slightest deformation in a mirror can affect the driver's perception and cause an accident? According to a recent study, 5% of after-sales complaints were related to optical distortions in rear-view mirrors.

Exclusive attention to technology often leads to the neglect of optical quality. Mistakes in this area can go unnoticed, affecting driver safety and triggering after-sales complaints.

  3. Lack of focus on durability:

Focusing solely on aesthetics and not paying attention to resistance and durability in adverse weather conditions is another common mistake. A rearview mirror should be not only functional but also durable in the long run

  4. Failure to comply with regulatory changes:

Staying up to date on these regulations can lead to non-conformity and quality issues during the production process, or before the vehicle is shipped to market.

Being alert and avoiding these types of mistakes will be important to achieve excellence in rearview mirrors. A thorough inspection, adapted to technological complexity and ever-evolving safety standards, is essential to ensure high-quality rearview mirrors in every vehicle.

SQAs and SQEs require working side-by-side with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that every component, such as rearview mirrors, meets quality requirements. Good communication is an excellent tool to quickly detect and resolve any failures, minimizing the impact on the production line and, of course, on the company's pocket.

The challenges are obvious, but this is where PTI QCS comes in. Our inspection services go beyond the surface, unraveling technical complexity with pinpoint precision.
